Chairmans Report

Well, our 2018 West of Scotland Centre AGM took place at Crossford Village Hall at 2pm on Saturday 8th September '18. A huge thank you is extended to all West Centre Members, SCC Council Members and Visiting Centre Members that took the time out of their weekend to support our Meeting.
I would also like to once more thank all those who have seen fit for me to be at the helm for another year, it is a privilege and also plays a huge part in my own personal development.
Out of a recorded 1115 Centre Members only 30 attended, a pretty poor show really!! How can your West Centre Committee plan to offer events and rallies that attract more families / people to attend when most of our Membership will not collaborate /communicate their preferences?
I understand that our Centre is not by any means alone with this, but if Centre Members don't talk to their Committee's how are said Committee's supposed attract and keep new Ralliers?
I am very happy to report that we do have all Office Bearing posts on our Committee filled for another year, though sadly we have lost Catherine and Graeme Hollinsworth and Peter Hamilton. Their energy and support through the work they did with Committee has been greatly appreciated and though we thanked them at the AGM I would like to once more extend our thanks to all three and I hope that we shall see you on the rally field in the future.
I would like to thank also those that have agreed to stay on our Committee and welcome Robert Brownlee as our new Rally Secretary.
We are committed to hosting the 2019 Scottish National Rally at Lanark Race Course from Friday 3rd May through to Tuesday 7th May, we have begun to have 'National Only' meetings to ensure everything and everyone is on track, we DO however require 'Hands On Deck' so I plan to create a file on our FB page to which willing volunteers can add their names, this will help me to keep track of everyone.
Our Rally season for 2018 is not yet over, we still have our 'SPOOKTACULAR HALLOWEEN' Rally to come from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th October at 'Kelty Bridge' Callander. Val Brownlee is running this Rally with help from friends and she would really appreciate anyone thinking of joining us for this event, to ensure they book early so that she can sort out Catering etc. Also we have a limited number of Pitches, all with EHU, Fancy dress fun and games for children up to 99yrs are promised I'm sure, as well as prizes for the 'Scariest Decorated Caravan / Motorhome'. Don't be shy, children of all ages welcome provided they bring along an 'Irresponsible adult'.
That only leaves me really to advertise our 'Annual Dinner Dance' on Saturday 10th November at the Fabulous 'New Lanark Mill Hotel' tickets cost 32.50 and there are currently only 4 rooms available in the Hotel at a cost of 99 per room including Breakfast.
I hope to see many of you on the Rally field as possible in what is left of 2018 and going forward to 2019.

New Facebook Page

The West Centre Committee is pleased to announce that we have a new Facebook Group up and open as of today Wednesday 12th April.
We welcome Members Conversation and any Caravanning related pictures and look forward to receiving them.

What can we offer you?

The West Centre would be delighted to welcome you, and your family to any of our rallies listed in our 2017 programme of events. We organise some long weekends and Holiday Rallies to coincide with local school and area breaks. Our aim is to promote a relaxing break with like-minded people who share a love of caravanning and socialising.

What is a rally?

Centre Rallies are organised events, where Caravan Club members meet for weekends or holidays, to pursue their various interests, and have some fun along the way. The chief rally officer is the person, along with his/her team, responsible for organising and running the rally; this includes arranging the site and services, putting up the Centre's direction signs to the venue, and all the social events. Most of our Centre rallies have a social evening, which may include dancing, quizzes, games, bingo, and even barbeques in the warmer evenings. You are free to join in any of the activities or simply relax and do your own thing. Being a member of "The Caravan Club", means that you would be able to join a rally being run by any Centre, which can be very useful when going to, or returning home from your holidays, or you may just wish to visit other Centre areas. Details of all rallies are listed in the Club Magazine and copies of most Centre Handbooks are held by our Centre's Rally Secretary.
